Bobcats edge out Mustangs in Softball

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats defeated the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 18-13
For Orangefield, Abigail Curphey got the win on the mound with 16 strikeouts on the night.
The Lady Bobcats collected 20 hits on the night. Joli Ponfick led the offense with 3 hits, 2 walks, an RBI, and 5 runs scored. Madison Hughes added 3 hits with 2 doubles, an RBI, and a run scored. Ryleigh Clarke had a huge go-ahead home run in the top of the 8th and collected 4 RBIs on the night.
Rylee Dougay had 3 hits with 4 RBIs, including a bases-clearing triple in the top of the 9th. Paris Becker had 2 RBIs and a run scored. Harleigh Rawls had a double with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Greenlea Oldham added 3 hits on the night with 2 runs scored. Curphey had a single, an RBI, and a walk. Alysen Vincent had 2 hits, an RBI, and a walk.
On the Mustang side, Ariel Farris went 1 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI, drew 2 walks, and scored 4 runs.
Nataleigh Sims went 3 for 5 with a triple, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Paris Overstreet went 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored. Erika Jordan went 1 for 5 with a run scored. Tashianna Williams went 1 for 5 with a run scored.
T’Era Garrett had a monster game going 2 for 5 with 2 Homeruns, 5 RBI, and 2 runs scored. She also scored the 2nd of those homers with the Lady Mustangs down 3 in the bottom of the 8th inning and 2 strikes on her.
The Lady Bobcats will celebrate senior night this Friday vs. LCM. while The Lady Mustangs finish the season Friday, at Silsbee

Hickman talks High School Football at Rotary Club

Head coach and athletic director Hiawatha Hickman spoke to a packed room at the Orange Texas Rotary Club.

Hickman talked about the upcoming 2023 football season, their playoff chances, and the hard work the Mighty Mustangs have put in to prepare for the season.

The Strutters participated at the ADTS Team Camp this week and took home many awards. Mrs. Cude stated about the team, “The Strutters worked as one- always supporting and encouraging when 16-hour dance days became exhausting. Each day they pushed and gave more!”
