Bridge City UIL Academics will be sending Ava Gassen and Chloe Doyle will be heading to the STATE UIL Academic Meet at UT Austin in May

Ava Gassen took Second in Poetry, and Chloe Doyle placed Third in Persuasive Speaking, qualifying them for state.

Brandon Barbosa also placed fifth place in Informative Speaking at the Regional Meet at SFA in Nacogdoches

This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of these students, as well as the support they receive from their coaches, teachers, and parents.

Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic qualities and evocative power. In UIL Poetry, students are required to recite a published poem and present their interpretation of the poem’s meaning.

Ava Gassen’s second-place finish at the Regional Meet is a remarkable achievement, indicating her deep understanding of the poem she presented and her ability to convey its meaning and emotion to the audience.

The ability to interpret and convey complex emotions through language is a valuable skill, and Ava Gassen has demonstrated her proficiency in this regard.

Chloe Doyle’s third-place finish in Persuasive Speaking at the Regional Meet is a testament to her research skills, analytical thinking, and persuasive communication abilities.

Persuasive speaking requires exceptional communication skills. In Persuasive Speaking, students are required to deliver a speech that presents a well-researched argument and persuades the audience to accept their point of view.

 

 

Informative Speaking requires students to present a well-researched and organized speech on a specific topic.

Brandon Barbosa’s fifth-place finish in Informative Speaking at the Regional Meet is indicative of his ability to research and organize information effectively. 

 The UIL Academic program offers students a unique opportunity to showcase their academic abilities, develop valuable skills, and gain confidence and self-esteem. The support provided by teachers, coaches, and parents is crucial in enabling students to achieve success in these competitions.
