There are businesses that are still struggling from the shutdown and subsequent downturn from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This has especially hit midsized and small local businesses in the Orange Area. Unfortunately, many of the programs that were designed to help business has largely gone underutilized.
According to Corey Stark, there are programs meant to help. Such as the Employee Retention Credit
“This is a program that has been modified to help business to overcome a COVID event. Pretty much every business can argue they have had supply chain issues or lost money because of COVID.”
- an employer can receive up to $26000 per employee
- it is available for 2020 and q1 – q3 of 2021
- this is not a loan, so there is no limit on funding
- it is a refundable tax credit
- businesses qualify if they had decreased revenue or a COVID event.
However, there is a process. the initial process can take up to 3 weeks and there can be up to a 20-week funding window due to the IRS backlog.
