The University Interscholastic League (UIL) held its UIL Prose competition over the weekend with junior Simra Shahab securing the 2nd position at the regional meet.  

The UIL is an academic competition that aims to test the knowledge, skills, and abilities of Texas students in various academic fields, including speech, debate, writing, and more.

The competitions are held at different levels, starting from district to regional and state. Prose is one of the categories in which students perform a dramatic reading of a published work of prose.

She will compete at UT in Austin at the State meet.
