JV Bobcats overpower Cardinals

A stout defense and a timely offense propelled Orangefield JV to a season-opening football win at Bridge City 22-0.
The defense shut out the JV Cardinals by causing 6 turnovers and held them to just a few 1st downs.
Leading the defense was Zach Morrow with a fumble recovery and an interception. Kaleb Menard intercepted a pass while Bobby McKay, Daniel Torres, and Layne Reynolds all recovered fumbles.
The Bobcat offense was led by a 66-yard TD run by Rylan McAlpin, two touchdown runs, and a 2pt conversion run from Carson Worthy. Kyler Green added a 2pt conversion run and had some good runs including a 17-yarder while Gabe Maricle added a 31-yard run as well.
The Offensive line provided great blocks on all touchdown drives.

OF 6-0 – Rylan McAlpin 66-yard TD run. PAT no good
OF 14-0 – Carson Worthy 3-yard TD run. Kyler Green’s 2pt run good.
OF 22-0 – Carson Worthy 1-yard run. Carson Worthy’s 2pt run good.

Hickman talks High School Football at Rotary Club

Head coach and athletic director Hiawatha Hickman spoke to a packed room at the Orange Texas Rotary Club.

Hickman talked about the upcoming 2023 football season, their playoff chances, and the hard work the Mighty Mustangs have put in to prepare for the season.

The Strutters participated at the ADTS Team Camp this week and took home many awards. Mrs. Cude stated about the team, “The Strutters worked as one- always supporting and encouraging when 16-hour dance days became exhausting. Each day they pushed and gave more!”
