Lady Bobcats excelling on court

The Lady Bobcat under-level teams competed in the Bridge City tournament this Thursday – Saturday. The sophomore team finished 2nd in the silver bracket and the JV team finished 2nd in the gold bracket. 

The Lady Bobcat varsity team traveled to Newton on Friday and beat the Lady Eagles 54 – 17. After a slow first half (18 – 15) the Lady Bobcats really locked in on the defensive end and held Newton to just two points the entire second half. 

Harleigh Rawls – 18 pts.
Jalynn Alfaro – 9 pts.
Greenlea Oldham – 9 pts. / 12 rebounds
Brooklyn Wagoner – 6 pts.
Ava Dyer – 5 pts.
Kaylea Gravett – 3 pts.
Kennedy Thibodeaux – 3 pts.
Alexus Maddox – 1 pt. ( Coach Girola remarked, “[Maddox] Brought a defensive spark that we needed)

Girls Head Basketball Coach Eric Girola said, “All of our student-athletes competed well, played hard, and represented Orangefield the right way. We are proud of them all!”

All levels will compete in the Nederland tournament in their respective divisions on 11/17 – 11/19.

The Strutters participated at the ADTS Team Camp this week and took home many awards. Mrs. Cude stated about the team, “The Strutters worked as one- always supporting and encouraging when 16-hour dance days became exhausting. Each day they pushed and gave more!”
