Incoming Precinct 2 Commissioner Chris Sowell recounts when he heard that he had won his campaign for office.

“To be honest, when I first heard that (I won), one of my supporters was in an ambulance having heart problems and I hung up on the guy who told me. I couldn’t talk because I was in an ambulance with the man who was having the issue,” Sowell related to Orange Newsmedia Wednesday morning.
Municipal Utility District answers questions about insurance offerings coming in Mauriceville mail
The Mauriceville Municipal Utility District released a notice regarding concerns from their customers about letters they have received from the mail from companies such as American Water Resources of Texas offering insurance on Mauriceville MUD homeowner’s service lines.

City of Orange to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Tax Increase

The City of Orange is holding a public hearing on 29 August 2023 at 5:30 PM at the Orange City Council Chambers at the Orange Public Library.
According to the notice, the proposed tax increase is under the amount that would require voter approval.
The public is invited to voice their support or opposition to the proposed tax rate at the hearing
