ODD NEWS: California declares bees to be a fish

The State of California has decided that the bee is a fish for legal purposes.
It all started in 2019 when the California Fish and Game Commission classified the bumblebee as endangered.
Agricultural groups sued to have this reversed arguing that California’s endangered species laws explicitly define invertebrates (animals without a backbone) are fish.
They were successful.
However, the 3rd district California Court of Appeals in Sacramento disagreed and put the bumblebee back on the endangered species list.
The court argued that other non-aquatic invertebrates, such as snails, were already listed as endangered under the category of fish.
In the decision, Associate Justice Ronald Robie wrote, “Accordingly, a terrestrial invertebrate, like each of the four bumble bee species, may be listed as an endangered or threatened species under the Act.”
No word on whether the Almond Alliance of California plans to appeal.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

It is not uncommon for a person to receive mail met for another person.
Imagine, however, that this misdelivered mail is several live lizards?
This is what a Port Chester NY person had happen. Port Chester is a village north of New York City.
Police received the call about the reptiles just after noon on Saturday.
Port Chester police wrote on Facebook. “Needless to say the addressee was quite startled when they opened the box,”
Police posted a picture on Sunday of three dark-colored lizards held in a large white container.
Police posted, “If you lost your lizards and iguanas we have them at the police department.”
Police held the animals until a local animal sanctuary could pick them up for safekeeping.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Call it a case of Florida Man strikes again.
According to reports, neighbors Jason Defelice and James Nix are at odds as to the demise of Defelice’s pet rooster.
Defelice claims animal cruelty while Nix claims self-defense.
“I lose them to animals, but I was not expecting to lose them to my neighbor that was like my friend,” Defelice said.
However, Nix insists he was defending himself as the rooster attacked.
“I just checked my mail and turn around and go, and I hear, ’Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!’ And I turn around, and there’s a chicken out there in the street. I said, ‘Oh boy, here we go.’”
“Turn around, walk to my place — bang, bang, bang, bang, bang — now the chicken’s in my yard. Now its neck flares up,” he said.
“So I pick up a stick in the yard, and I try to hit it. But the chicken’s jumping up at me, and I accidentally knocked in the head, you know? Call it a lucky shot, whatever.”
Nix said he wasn’t sure what to do.
“I didn’t know to give it a 21-gun salute!” Nix said. “CPR, mouth-to-mouth, do you know? Or call the chicken ambulance?”
Kids in the neighborhood told Defelice that Nix had beaten the rooster. So Defelice called animal control.
“Next thing you know, he calls the chicken police on me,” Nix said. “Chickens die every day, people — at Church’s, Popeyes, Kentucky Fried Chicken.”
Nix was arrested for animal cruelty.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
