Necessity they say is the mother of invention.

According to an article in Yahoo News,

Last fall, engineering seniorsin a John Hopkins’ product design course were tasked with creating an invention that would be useful for everyday life. The all-female team of Tyler Guarino, Rachel Nie, Marie Eric, and Erin Walsh came together and decided to solve one of life’s most frustrating problems: preventing a burrito from unraveling and making a mess.

Their solution: an edible tape that keeps all the delicious ingredients inside the tortilla instead of on your plate or lap.

After settling on an idea, the 22-year-old said the group started to research the different components that make up real tape. From there, they found edible counterparts.

The chemical biomolecular engineering students are understandably vague when speaking about the ingredients in the tape because they are currently working with Johns Hopkins University to file for a patent.

They presented their invention at the university’s annual engineering showcase, Design Day, on May 3.

As the team tries to secure a patent, Guarino shared that they are, “going to continue to work on it, refine the formula and see where it takes us.” They hope to “try and get it out there.”

If the patent is approved, Tastee Tape could be a game-changer for fans of burritos, gyros, flatbreads, and pretty much any other food that can be wrapped

Imagine, however, that this misdelivered mail is several live lizards?

This is what a Port Chester NY person had happen. Port Chester is a village north of New York City.

Police received the call about the reptiles just after noon on Saturday.

Port Chester police wrote on Facebook. “Needless to say the addressee was quite startled when they opened the box,”

Police posted a picture on Sunday of three dark-colored lizards held in a large white container.

Police posted, “If you lost your lizards and iguanas we have them at the police department.”

Police held the animals until a local animal sanctuary could pick them up for safekeeping.

Call it a case of Florida Man strikes again.

According to reports, neighbors Jason Defelice and James Nix are at odds as to the demise of Defelice’s pet rooster.

Defelice claims animal cruelty while Nix claims self-defense.

“I lose them to animals, but I was not expecting to lose them to my neighbor that was like my friend,” Defelice said.

However, Nix insists he was defending himself as the rooster attacked.

“I just checked my mail and turn around and go, and I hear, ’Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!’ And I turn around, and there’s a chicken out there in the street. I said, ‘Oh boy, here we go.’”

“Turn around, walk to my place — bang, bang, bang, bang, bang — now the chicken’s in my yard. Now its neck flares up,” he said.

“So I pick up a stick in the yard, and I try to hit it. But the chicken’s jumping up at me, and I accidentally knocked in the head, you know? Call it a lucky shot, whatever.”

Nix said he wasn’t sure what to do.

“I didn’t know to give it a 21-gun salute!” Nix said. “CPR, mouth-to-mouth, do you know? Or call the chicken ambulance?”

Kids in the neighborhood told Defelice that Nix had beaten the rooster. So Defelice called animal control.

“Next thing you know, he calls the chicken police on me,” Nix said. “Chickens die every day, people — at Church’s, Popeyes, Kentucky Fried Chicken.”

Nix was arrested for animal cruelty.
