Orangefield JV opens up district with Win

The Orangefield JV Bobcats opened district play at Buna with a 34-12 win. The Bobcats improved their record to 5-0 Overall, 1-0 District.

Orangefield got on the scoreboard first when Kaleb Menard and Carson Worthy tackled the ball carrier in the endzone for a safety to lead 2-0.

The Bobcats would then go score 3 times in the 2nd quarter.

Kyler Green ran for a 9-yard touchdown with Colt Longron running in for the 2-point play to give the Bobcats a 10-0 lead. Next Buna possession, Menard would get an interception and score a touchdown from 36 yards out. Ashton Sumrall would run in the 2-point play to extend the lead to 18-0.

Green would score his second touchdown of the night from 3 yards out and Worthy would run in the 2-point conversion to lead 26-0.

The Cougars would score late in the 2nd quarter to make the halftime score 26-6. In the 4th quarter, Sumrall would score from 4 yards out and then run in the 2-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 34-6 lead.

Buna would score at the end of the game to make the final score 34-12.

The JV Bobcats will host Anahuac next Thursday at home.

The Strutters participated at the ADTS Team Camp this week and took home many awards. Mrs. Cude stated about the team, “The Strutters worked as one- always supporting and encouraging when 16-hour dance days became exhausting. Each day they pushed and gave more!”
