Orangefield JV rolls over Hardin

The Orangefield JV Bobcats hosted the Hardin Hornets and came away with a 40-6 win.
The Bobcats would score first in the 1st quarter. Ashton Sumrall led the Bobcats down the field with some tough rushing yards. Zach Morrow would score from 5 yards out with Kaleb Menard adding to a 2-point conversion run to give the Bobcats an 8-0 lead.
In the 2nd quarter, Rylan McAlpin would add to the scoring with a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Sumrall would run in the 2-point conversion to extend the Bobcat lead to 16-0.
The defense would stop the Hornets before the half to give the offense another shot at scoring.
The Bobcats’ offense would go and score when Sumrall added a 9-yard rushing touchdown.
Carson Worthy ran in the 2-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 24-0 halftime lead.
There was no scoring in the 3rd quarter but the Bobcats’ defense got two interceptions from Colt Longron and Colton Michael to stop any Hornet offense.
The 4th quarter began with Sumrall scoring from 8 yards and Worthy again adding the 2-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 32-0 lead.
The Hornets would add a late touchdown to cut the Bobcats’ lead to 32-6.
The Bobcats’ offense would march down the field with Menard adding a 4-yard touchdown.
Longron would run in the 2-point conversion to make the score 40-6.
The Bobcats’ defense would then get a caused fumble by Longron and Menard would recover the fumble to secure the Bobcats win.
The JV Bobcats improve to 8-0 Overall, 4-0 District.
The Bobcats have a bye next week.

Hickman talks High School Football at Rotary Club

Head coach and athletic director Hiawatha Hickman spoke to a packed room at the Orange Texas Rotary Club.

Hickman talked about the upcoming 2023 football season, their playoff chances, and the hard work the Mighty Mustangs have put in to prepare for the season.

The Strutters participated at the ADTS Team Camp this week and took home many awards. Mrs. Cude stated about the team, “The Strutters worked as one- always supporting and encouraging when 16-hour dance days became exhausting. Each day they pushed and gave more!”
