Today for our pet of the day. we feature two little ones that
need to find homes and quick.

One is a male that came in last week and one is female that was surrendered
yesterday because they didn’t have time for her. Both are available for Adoption now.

Unfortunately no info on vetting.

The Shelter is no place for these fur-babies.

If you would like to adopt these dogs or any others at the Orange Animal Shelter,
go by their shelter at 806 simmons drive or call (409) 883-1056

Meet Maggie, our pet of the day.

Poor baby has some demodex going on with the skin

All normal dogs (and many humans) have a few of these mites on their skin.
As long as the body’s immune system is functioning properly, these mites cause no harm.

Demodectic mange most often occurs when a dog has an immature immune system,
allowing the number of skin mites to increase rapidly. As a result, this disease occurs
primarily in dogs less than 12 to 18 months of age. As the dog matures, its immune system also matures.

It is treatable by using special shampoos and dips, along with oral medication.

She really wants to trust and love someone.

She just needs a chance.
