The TCEQ required the Rose City Water Plant public water system (01810139) to issue a boil water notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions that occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The public system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by the public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with lab test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of (07/11/2022)

Orange County Commissioners’ Court to Hold Public Hearing on Property Tax Increase
The Orange County Commissioners’ Court will be holding a public hearing on a potential increase in property taxes for the 2024 fiscal year.
According to the County, the proposed rate is greater than the “no-new-revenue rate” and is considered a tax increase under the rules adopted by the 86th Texas Legislature. The new proposed rate is $.5220 per $100 (the current rate is $.5320 per $100), the County would need to set the rate at $.4695 per $100 for it not to be considered a tax increase.
Since the new rate does not meet or exceed $.6108 per $100, the county does not need to hold an election to seek voter approval of the rate.
The current rate potentially raised $38,883,176 for 2023 and the new rate will raise $43,130,851. The new rate will also increase the average tax by $74.75 a year in county taxes.
The public hearing will be held Tuesday morning at 10 AM at 123 S 6th Street and is open to the public.
The Court will also discuss the proposed FY2024 Budget
