In a Facebook post, Williams stated, “Today we walked 9.11 miles in memory of the men and women that paid the ultimate sacrifice 21 years ago. I’m proud of everyone that was able to make the walk with us! Thank you to Sheriff Jimmy Lane Mooney and his crew for the support throughout the event. We couldn’t have done it without y’all. A big shoutout to Mrs. Sherri Brown. She went out of her way and provided Gatorades, snacks, ice, and so much more. Thank you to our awesome community that didn’t mind being inconvenienced and paid their respects. Y’alls support was amazing.”

Mayor Songe added, “I am grateful to have been a part of this event. It was brutal but those firefighters braved the heat in their gear to show respect for those that lost their lives on 9/11. We appreciate the citizens’ patience as we proceeded through town.”
